2019 U.S. Open Club Championships to Welcome Strong International Field

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Feb. 26, 2019) – The field of international teams set to appear at the 2019 USA Ultimate U.S. Open Club Championships is one of the event’s strongest yet. Twelve teams from four nations will make the trip to Blaine, Minn., this August to take on the top eight American teams in each of the event’s three competition divisions: men’s, mixed and women’s.

Men’s International Teams:

  • Buzz Bullets – Tokyo, Japan
  • Comunidad El Oso – Bogotá, Colombia
  • MAKAWUA – Bogotá, Colombia
  • Nomadic Tribe – Tokyo, Japan

Mixed International Teams:

  • Chaos – Tokyo, Japan
  • CRAZY – Tokyo, Japan
  • Ellipsis – Melbourne, Australia
  • Voltaje – Bucaramanga, Colombia

Women’s International Teams:

  • German National Team – Darmstadt, Germany
  • HUCK – Tokyo, Japan
  • Revolution – Medellín, Colombia
  • UNO – Nagoya, Japan

The field includes two of the three international teams to have won their division at the U.S. Open Club Championships: Ellipsis and Revolution. While there are some familiar names amongst this year’s international teams, we also have seven teams new to the event: Comunidad El Oso, MAKAWUA and Nomadic Tribe in the men’s division, Chaos and CRAZY in the mixed division, and the German National Team and HUCK in the women’s division.

The U.S. Open Club Championships is the only major international tournament in the United States and features 36 teams, 12 in each competition division, and includes 12 international teams. The event was first held in 2012 as the U.S. Open Championships but was combined with the Youth Club Championships beginning in 2017 and was rebranded as the U.S. Open Club Championships. The new, combined event is USA Ultimate’s largest event of the year, including more than 125 teams and upwards of 2,500 athletes.

The 2019 U.S. Open Club Championships will take place August 2-5, at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. The International Club Championships division will be contested Aug. 2-4, with the Youth Club Championships teams competing Aug. 3-5.
