ICC Women’s Final Featured on ESPN2; Total of 49 ICC, YCC Games Included

Colorado Springs, Colo. (July 30, 2018)—USA Ultimate announced today a 49-game broadcast and livestreaming schedule for the 2018 U.S. Open Club Championships. The four-day event runs August 3-6, at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn., and programming will feature both elite-level club division games and youth division games.

Thirty-six club teams will compete in the U.S. Open’s International Club Championships (ICC), a tournament that also serves as the first leg of ultimate’s Triple Crown. Simultaneously, a field of 88 youth teams will be competing for national titles in five divisions of the Youth Club Championships (YCC) – U-20 boys, U-20 girls, U-20 mixed, U-17 boys and U-17 girls.

This year, the ICC division will host club teams from six countries, including the U.S., Canada, Colombia, Japan, Germany and the U.K., plus a women’s all-star squad comprised of athletes from Asia and Oceania.

ESPN – the Worldwide Leader in Sports – returns to provide live coverage of the ICC on a combination of both digital and linear platforms. Anchored by a live broadcast of the women’s championship game on ESPN2 at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday, Aug. 5, ESPN will also distribute the men’s and mixed division championship games and four semifinals via ESPN3 and the WatchESPN mobile app.

ESPN’s coverage of the ICC semifinals includes mixed and women’s division games plus a men’s division doubleheader on Saturday evening, Aug. 4.

All ESPN programming will again be simulcast in Canada on TSN and TSN GO. (Exact details to follow.)

Complementing ESPN’s seven-game broadcast schedule, USA Ultimate has again hired Fulcrum Media Group to produce 28 additional games from the ICC and YCC divisions. Fulcrum-produced content will stream live on USA Ultimate’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Coverage kicks off with 10 games from the ICC division – two games per round of pool play – before switching gears and focusing on the YCC division for 18 additional games.

Ultiworld also returns to the U.S. Open in partnership with USA Ultimate to distribute an additional 12 games from the ICC division. Ultiworld’s coverage will include a combination of live and tape-delayed programming. Each round of pool play will feature one free livestreamed game – available at www.ultiworld.com/live – plus an additional filmed game as part of Ultiworld’s subscription package.

Ultiworld and USA Ultimate have also partnered to produce and distribute a pair of ICC semifinal matchups (mixed and women’s divisions) on a free, tape-delayed basis with programs available on USA Ultimate’s YouTube page immediately following the conclusion of each game.

Ultiworld’s coverage from the U.S. Open will also include free livestreams of a U-20 mixed division semifinal and the U-20 boys championship match on Monday, Aug. 6. An additional slate of yet-to-be-determined pool play and early round elimination games is still under consideration.

USA Ultimate will stream the U-20 girls’ and mixed division title games on its social media platforms.
